Forefoot surgery

Forefoot surgery covers a variety of conditions that occur in the forefoot area and can often lead to considerable discomfort. The most common problems include Hallux valgus, die Arthrose of the metatarsophalangeal joint (hallux rigidus), deformities of the small toes such as hammer toe and claw toe, tailor’s bunion and Morton’s neuroma. Each of these conditions brings its own challenges and treatment requirements.

Common diseases of the forefoot

Hallux valgus: This deformity of the big toe is one of the best known and most common forefoot deformities. It can lead to pain and inflammation, making it difficult to walk and wear shoes.

Hallux rigidus: Osteoarthritis of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe, also known as hallux rigidus, causes stabbing pain and limited mobility of the big toe. This often leads to a considerable impairment of walking ability.

Hammer toe and claw toe: These deformities affect the smaller toes and lead to painful pressure points, calluses and limited toe mobility.

Tailor’s bunion: This painful swelling on the outside of the little toe can be aggravated by pressure points and friction in shoes.

Morton’s neuroma:
A nerve disorder caused by thickening and inflammation of the nerves between the toes, leading to burning pain and numbness in the forefoot.

Non-surgical treatment approaches

The treatment of these forefoot complaints initially focuses on non-surgical measures. These include special customised insoles that relieve the foot and improve pressure distribution, as well as targeted physiotherapy to strengthen the foot muscles and improve mobility. Our approach is to work together with selected specialists in order to achieve the best possible treatment success. Many complaints can be significantly alleviated or even completely eliminated through individually tailored therapy.

Surgical therapy options

If conservative measures do not bring the desired success, we offer a comprehensive range of surgical treatment options. These include both open and minimalinvasive Eingriffe, which are selected according to the clinical picture and individual requirements. Our philosophy is not to treat every forefoot condition ‘by the book’, but to find the most suitable treatment option for each individual patient. This ensures a customised and effective treatment that addresses the specific needs and conditions of each patient.

Put your feet in experienced hands

Forefoot surgery offers a wide range of treatment options for a number of conditions that affect the forefoot. From non-surgical measures such as customised foot orthoses and physiotherapy to surgical procedures, a wide range of treatment options are available. By working together with specialists and selecting the best treatment options on an individual basis, we always endeavour to improve our patients’ quality of life and help them to enjoy a pain-free and mobile everyday life.
